Deniz is a Toronto-based artist of Mongolian and Turkish ancestry. Her art explores human-land relations and is informed by traditional Mongolian cosmology and spiritual beliefs. Deniz centres earth beings as the main subjects of her work, through which she explores relationships with the land and her ancestors. As a response to the social and ecological crises of our time, Deniz’s practice and research explores themes such as extraction, deep time, and environmental stewardship. Deniz graduated law school in 2022 and is currently a freelance researcher.
